Cuándo poner a mi peque a favor de la marcha
A estas alturas ya me habéis oído decir que lo lesivo precisamente es el arnés a favor de marcha, debido a que toda la carga de tracción (si se produce un impacto o un frenazo) repercute en el cuello, con el resultado de una lesión que muchas veces es irreversible (piensa en el dolor en tu cuello si alguna vez has tenido un impacto, por pequeño que sea).
Pero una vez la ley me dice que ya puedo llevar a mi peque con cinturón (según normativa, a partir de 15 kilos), toca seguir leyendo para que sepas qué tener en cuenta para decidir el cambio de silla.
Factores a tener en cuenta en el cambio de silla
Por supuesto, prolongar la contramarcha lo máximo posible. Hay sillas hasta 25 o 32 kilos, se trata de probar en tu coche para ver la inclinación y el espacio. Y no, las piernas no importan si el peso recae sobre su espalda gracias a una buena inclinación de la silla dentro del coche.
Espera a que al menos tenga cuatro años y 18 kilos. Estamos dando tiempo a que su cuerpo (que no es como el de un adulto pequeño) termine de desarrollarse. Su cuello no ha osificado aún, y tardará en hacerlo unos cuantos años más.
Hay que dejarle claro al peque que no debe agacharse, sacar brazos del cinturón, coger cosas lejanas… Su cuerpo apoyado en el respaldo, como tú. Y para eso hace falta cierta madurez y capacidad de entendimiento (y por supuesto, educación vial).
Sus piernas quedarán colgando, lo contrario que las tuyas. Así que ten en cuenta que eso no mola, y quizás quiera apoyarlas en el respaldo de tu asiento. No es su culpa, recuérdalo.
Tienes que calcular un espacio de seguridad entre tu peque y el asiento de delante y su cara. En un frenazo tonto os dais un susto importante si está muy cerca. Ese espacio es de unos 55 cm desde su nariz hasta el respaldo de delante. Difícil, ¿eh? Más o menos el mismo espacio que ocupa una silla a contramarcha. Ahora ya puedes continuar con tu peque mirando hacia atrás un montón de tiempo más, ya que el argumento del espacio en el coche lo acabamos de desmontar.
Es importante que lleve el cinturón bien reconducido y sin abrigos, para evitar «efecto submarino» (el niño se desliza hacia abajo, pasándole el cinturón por el cuello, produciéndole lesiones graves o muy graves y hasta la muerte por ahorcamiento). Y si puede ser, en el asiento central. El más seguro. Sin duda.
